Are we "Being Human"?
First, let me clarify that I am just a normal human being venting out my
disappointments and striving hard to come outta this biased world believing the
delusions of life to be the only purpose of life. All of us are born human. Our
numbers are a little over a whopping 7.5 Billion now. However the ones that are
“Being Human” is the rarity now. We have no respect for our fellow beings …We
have nothing to offer to our equals except Jealousy, insincerity and hatred. We
search for excuses rather than attempting to change. We reason it to be
the fast pace of the world. Who said to us that we gotta run?? Would we grow an
inch less if we wish some stranger a heartfelt good morning or appreciate them
for a wonderful feat they had achieved?! What distinguishes us, humans from
animals if not for our true emotions and a brain to streamline them? We have to
admit that when we see someone succeed…the one feeling that strikes us
first...Is the feeling to beat them. Who gave us the right to judge people of
our own kind?? After all, are we the ones who created them? Nooo! Then, why? We
live in a society where we cannot be what we truly are..! Even if someone finds
the guts to stand straight….He will be judged, mistreated, and harassed to make
him step back.
What I cannot see is the difference between us and those vile mortals
like Hitler who found happiness in other’s misery and animals living in the
jungle. We all have the evil residing in us and however bad it might sound, the
evil side is dominating us right now. And am sure most of us know this fact to be
true, but even more unfortunate is that we accepted it as if we didn’t have a
choice. But is that the truth? We had a choice and we chose not to be the
better one…Why?? We are too embarrassed and abashed to admit the truth to ourselves…to
admit that we have given up like a coward…to admit that we acted like an
invertebrate…! And we still don’t know whether we are going to make amends or
continue to live like a copy of what everyone pretends to be. We search for
those transitory things…very well knowing that we, ourselves are temporary.
We prefer to get our work completed with the help of other’s hands and
their brains. Don’t we have one? Shouldn’t we be ashamed of the fact that we go
around boasting about this and labelling this exploitation as “smart work”…?
Very well we should be…but as we all know… we are not and we even spread this
highly acclaimed idea of “smart work” without even a tiny bit of shame. If we
prefer to get our work done by our equals…then why did the one who created us
give us strong arms and legs?? Was he bored or was he stupid to do more work by
creating legs and arms we never choose to use?? Shouldn’t we have hung
ourselves long before to survive with the help of someone who is same as us?
But instead we are proud and think we are super-smart. Seeking for help is
different whereas trying to complete work completely with the aid of others is
different. These days, all we want to be is a Boss and not a Leader. But…let us
be fair to ourselves…Is sleeping after a long tiring day worthy or a sleep
after a sleepy day worthwhile? The answer is sure to be the former one. After
all, there IS a selfish reason to work hard…then why cheat?
We choose to live by our brain which is absolutely biased towards fame,
fortune, and popularity, craving for these things. But, most disgusting is that
we use our brain only to satisfy our greed for these delusions. We chose not to
live by the heart that guides us and directs us towards the truth. Where did
those days of paradise go……When we were humans, living right and fair to the
purpose we were created??
We miss our childhood. Everyone in the globe does. We miss those happy
days when we were a toddler running and giggling at all times. But, why do we
have to miss our childhood? We were children in the past and we have grown up.
What has changed? We have grown. That was the only change. But, is growing bad?
Of course, not! Then what went wrong? It’s the type of growth we underwent.
Just physical and mental maturity. We started giving more priority to our greed
and lust for things, which obviously does not deserve the attention we gave it.
That was what that went wrong. We sought after happiness where it was extinct.
We ignored the place, where it was in abundance… in people. Only when we make
others happy, we could be happy. But because of these evil priorities stealing
our worthy attention…we started mistreating, and hurting our source of
happiness. That’s where everything went wrong.
And after several generations of this cycle...here we are. Wondering how
to be happy! We cannot do anything giving an immediate effect changing the
ideals of the so called “society”, as it is merely the result of decades of
such thinking. But what we can do for our part is make an individual or two smile…
and we will find ourselves brimming with happiness. That is the purpose of our
life and not violent tempers and ill deeds or the wild goose chase we are doing.
As kids, we didn’t mind about what
others thought of us….didn’t care about how well we were perceived…or about
status and fame. We did not have a care in the world. But as we grew up…we grew
afraid of the people who were revealed to be scarier than those ghost stories
we heard during our childhood. We got to know the villainous smirks under those
plastered smiles. We did not have the courage to stand out and be what we were.
The real we lay hidden under what we pretended to be. We wanted to be the one
that everyone admired and envied. Why didn’t we want to be ourselves? Why
didn’t we want to be what we were! What is the worst that can happen if we
revealed and lived being the “real” we? Why can’t we attempt to make a
difference in this stereotypical society? Why should we try to be the genius or
the millionaire or the beauty we were not destined to be? Why fake it? Reveal
ourselves…that’s what we gotta do. Continue being the real us…against all odds.
Nobody is born to be Mr. Perfect. Everyone has flaws. It is in the way we see
them…and not in how others see them. We must create our own world where only
happiness prevails. We must protect it from any evil thoughts or evil people
like a warrior protects his beloved country. It is our kingdom. It is where we
rule. It is where we are going to be happy.
Shakespeare rightly said that “All world is a stage and all
men and women mere performing characters”. True. But what we don’t realize is
the thing that only when actors are willing to perform, would the stage become
live. Instead we believe the fact in an opposite way…that all persons are in a
fix to perform to make the stage come live. It seems like a cycle…but
definitely not a strong one. It’s the actors who are strong. We cannot
change our mind to accept if a co actor acts beyond the script. We believe it
to be against the laws of nature which is not. In a way or other, all of
us are brain washed to believe the opposites. That being the real us is against
nature and that we should be content being an invertebrate not having the
strength to stand against all odds to pronounce the truth true.
But, a question may arise….where does anything interesting
or thrilling comes while “being ourselves”?? It is all in the way we
live…every single part of a human life is filled with adventures and experiences.
If we find this life faking ourselves to be like everyone or Mr./Ms.Perfect
interesting…….why would the life we live being our true self be boring??
Everything is got to have an end…and so does our greed. But, it hasn’t. The
concept is very clear. We don’t get tired of these delusions. If we give a
mouse a cookie…would it be satisfied then? No! It would start demanding for a
glass of milk. We, the great Human Beings…too are in the same level as the five
sensed mouse. We get tired of those true morals that keep us going. We get
easily tired of the loving care of our parents, the silly affectionate antics
of our best buddies and the kind scolding of our teachers. But, we never get
tired of Fame, Pride, Money, and other unwanted crap. We crave for these things
like an addict. We crave for these crappy things like a dying patient craving
for his life-saving medicine. We think that we cannot live without these. But,
as I said, it is merely a set thought process. We should be the ones who
control our mind and brain and not vice-versa. If, we live under the control of
our brain…the result is obvious. It would be the opposite of what would happen
if we control our brain and mind. We would be slaves. We would be servants for
something that is morally and mentally against.
……So now, what is to be done? Clean up the mess we made? Clear the way ahead?
Or continue to walk upon the much trodden path? It is our Decision. And it is
our Life.
